Tonsils Times Two - Crazy or Smart???

Brother and Sister Bear both geared up early yesterday morning to embark on a painful journey...

Tonsillectomies!!!

We left home at 4:45 in the morning, wondering what the heck we had done scheduling both on the same day! Are we SMART or CRAZY? Once we got there and checked in, I decided we had done the right thing. These two cubs take good care of each other and this way we are only going through the recuperating one time.

First things first, show off our new jammies that Nanny dropped off to us... monkies for Sister Bear and LEGO Star Wars for Brother Bear. (Note: Thank goodness for two pair of monkey jammies cause Sister woke up wet from stem to stern and had to rinse off and get new jammies before leaving home.)

Then head to the back for Pre-Op blood pressure and temperature checks. Sister Bear hugged Brother and told him it was all gonna be okay. Guess she thought that blood pressure cuff would squeeze his arm in two!

Brother Bear held on to her and made sure she was okay too!

No more photos, as the next thing was hospital gowns and we all know how those go! Brother got the sea life one and Sister got the clowns. She refused to wear it because it wasn't her monkey jammies!

Everything else went as planned, "loopy" meds for Sister, Brother laughing at her, Sister goes back, "loopy" meds for Brother, Momma and Poppa Bear laugh at him, good report on Sister, Sister moves to recovery, Brother goes back, Momma gets nervous cause now she doesn't have either cub, hear Sister crying, Sister comes back to us, good report on Brother, he moves to recovery then over to us. Final results were: Sister Bear's tonsils were HUGE, bigger than Brother's, and her left ear drum needed repair where the button had torn out. Brother Bear's tonsils were not so big, but filled with toothpaste consistency puss. Both cubs got a good ear cleaning, too! Now they have no excuse for not cleaning their rooms when I tell them to!!!

Recovery at the surgery center went as recoveries go, trying to get the cubs to drink and wake up. Brother was a trooper and chugged that juice, should have alarmed me, but didn't set off the dinger... more on that later. Once we got the all good, we packed up to head home. Poppa pulled the car up front, Momma carried Sister and Brother took a ride in the "Cadillac" wheelchair. We loaded up, buckled in and got ready to head home. We made it about 50 yards toward the end of the parking lot and DING! DING! DING! Brother started gagging. We stopped, opened his door, and he commenced to re-delivering ALL that apple juice! Needless to say, my shoes and pants needed washing along with Brother's jammies and blanket and my car seats! After that, the trip home was good.

Our home recovery is going pretty good... ice cream, popsicles, jello, and pudding along with all-they-can-drink buffets! Good friends and family are making sure Momma and Poppa eat and we are on the road to recovery!!!

So far, I think we are SMART! This hasn't been so bad and it is summer, so Momma Bear can stay home with no worries about work. Poppa went back in today but keeps tabs on us with phone calls and texts. Wish us luck on the road to recovery and hopefully this marks our turn toward good health for all!

Wishing you and yours good health and happy days!

Love ya!

My New Read!!!

A dear friend from church just shared a blog with me. I sat here in my few quiet moments, one taking a nap the other immersed in LEGOs, to read a few post from the "new" blog...

Let me just say, the tears have steady streamed down, not leaky faucet, but full blown water the garden style! I have added *that* mom to my blog list. Please check her out if you have children, had children, want to have children, or have that first bambino on the way. My advice is to have the box of Kleenex available when you read the post "Dear Parents With Children in Church".

Poppa Bear and I are so there. Struggling with what is seen as acceptable and/or normal and us not using the nursery and not giving our children iphones or video games during church. We use snacks and coloring books and "Busy Bags" and we get those not always at the best time commentary from our kids, but we ARE raising our kids in church and our kids DO KNOW God loves them and we are trying to QUIT worrying about the fuddy-duddies who have forgotten what it was like to raise babies! And we have made up our mind to forgive those who glare before they even have the chance to glare or try to send the pastor to our house to remind us that our church has a nursery for young children because Jesus Loves the Little Children and SO DO I!!!!!

Go to church and bring those babies and raise them up the way you want them to go and they shall!

God blesses us and he blesses you too!

Watching the Rain

The rain has come... As we would say when we were little, God has mopped his floors and overflowed his bathtub!

So much has happened, opportunites have peeked their heads, babies have grown, old friends have come back into our lives and new friends have been made. Life through our looking glass is showing a bright future on the horizon.

The bear cubs are growing like "bad" weeds! I see changes in them everyday. Brother Bear is moving on up to the 3rd grade at a new school. We will soon call Cypress Springs Elementary our new home, but we won't forget our Gator family at GVE!!!! Sister Bear is an independent 2 1/2 year old who would run this Bear Family if we let her!

A few months ago, we decided to try out the local chain portrait studio. You know not all of them are going to be keepers, but we had a coupon and thought it'd be fun. Good thing I bought the CD because a week or so later the company went bankrupt and closed their doors nationally. Here are a few of the shots we liked...

 The calm before the storm...
We can be still, for 1 second...
They love each other and it shows!
Uh Oh! Is that a fist?
She just thinks she's in charge...
Well, maybe she is?!?!

 Handsome and maybe mischevious too...
Little Miss Muffett... (notice we lost the shoes and stockings!)
And our favorite one of all...

No matter what comes our way, this Bear Family is having fun and enjoying life.

Wishing love and laughter for all!
